I love the theme of this video, comparing and contrasting South Africa's past with the present. It makes the country sound very promising and they use the past, bad experiences of the people on their advantage making the country look stronger after all that.
This is my favorite place branding Don Ryun Chang and his team created, because i think it uses a powerful symbolic identity to keep India a memorable place. India is such a diverse place and i think they made a great job on capturing the feel of several points of view of the country.
Some of Don's comments about Place Branding: "It is always about the evolution of the city. You have to think how to make it a consumer experience. Is my investment valuable? It is about respect of heritage. It is not just a pretty logo, it is a look and feel experience of a city."
What a simple icon! How interesting association. Simple. A word can be very effective. Using accents interesting (. _ ). The positive and negative space enhances the meaning.
Type in bold or black, with a short leading can create some wild, intensive effects. Here it is used to embrace the aggressive meaning of the actual wallpaper. Love it! .. even more the meaning.
I am a Helvetica Neue fan (unfortunately there is no Helvetica type offered for my blog). It is a very simple and dynamic font, with a large type family which gives you the flexibility to use it over and over again.
Engaging the reader with an unanswered question and a combination of alternating text width, scale and color. I also enjoy the negative space on this composition.
I enjoy the texture that the whole composition creates through repetition of letters and the delicate quality of the word "Type" which is almost invisible. Plus question marks always fascinate me.
I saw this video during my Type II class and i found it very well created in terms of content and aesthetics. My favorite line is :"Right now there is nothing more expensive than REGRET "
